Whale Beach Road Whale Beach NSW
New Copper Clad Dwelling Whale Beach
A beachside home that integrates with its coastal environment. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape, our design incorporates passive solar principles and utilizes durable, low-maintenance materials to create a contemporary yet environmentally conscious dwelling.
The architectural features of the home, including wave-like roofs and internal walkways mirroring the surrounding hills and surf break, establish a strong connection to the coastal setting. The spacious, light-filled interiors are designed to accommodate large gatherings and showcase art, while a central staircase leads visitors to living areas that welcome the northern sun, optimizing natural heating and cooling.
Sustainability and Resilience
Built on a steep and geotechnically sensitive site, the original structure of the home was compromised by termite infestation, necessitating a complete replacement. This presented an opportunity for a comprehensive redesign that integrated passive solar principles, resulting in an ecologically sustainable and energy-efficient home that aligns with the laid-back beach lifestyle.
Materials and Finishes
To achieve a low-maintenance house that complements the beach environment, our design incorporates finishes such as copper cladding and polished concrete floors.
